"GUILT"
2000
This artwork is very close to my heart and should not be taken lightly. In 2000 one of my friends was involved in a car accident. The accident took the life of an elderly woman. My friend was out casted from society for the fact that the accident was his fault. The guilt of this accident has haunted him every day of his life since.
I could understand what he felt whenever I saw him, and felt the need to express this deper understanding and emotion to him.
And so the creation of "guilt" arose. I completed this artwork with charcoal, water coloured paints and coloured pastels. This work, features a kneeling figure (as seen in several other of my artworks) hiding his face. The man is inside a small, dark room. The window featured on the wall behind him contains a ghostlike silhouette, symbolic of the haunting presence of the woman. The text in the artwork helps the audience depict meaning within the artwork.
